Join us for our 6th annual TOUGH GATOR CHALLENGE at Geiger Elementary School from 9:00-1:00!

The Tough Gator Challenge is an obstacle course and mud run for Lewiston-area elementary school children and their families. The next (rain-or-shine!) event is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Geiger Elementary School on College Street in Lewiston. Participants will start in waves every 15 minutes throughout the day.

We are in our sixth year of the Tough Gator Challenge and we draw approximately 700 participants each year from the area.

The focus of the event is on being active, using teamwork, getting muddy and having fun! While the course is designed for elementary-aged participants, parents are welcome and encouraged to register and run alongside their kids. It is not a timed race, but a challenge everyone should be proud of finishing. All youth finishers will receive a t-shirt (generously donated by the Geiger company) and the honorary title of “Tough Gator”.

REGISTER:  The cost to register is $8 per person in advance and $10 per person on the day of the event. You can either print the registration form and mail or deliver it to the school or register on line using a credit card.  The day will include concessions, music, lots of mud and lots of fun! Proceeds will benefit the non-profit Geiger Elementary School PTO, which supports enrichment and community-building opportunities for Geiger students.

The Tough Gator Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 1st, 2019. We are so excited for another great year! Check out our Tough Gator Challenge page for more information or register at
PTO Mission and Vision
The mission of the Geiger Elementary PTO is threefold:
To support our educators in providing our children with the best educational, recreational and social experiences.
To act as a communication and resource tool for parents in the school community.
To support Geiger Elementary School by raising funds which go directly to the school in order to enhance facilities and complement programs offered to our children.

The Geiger Elementary PTO is organized for the purpose of supporting and enriching the academic, social, cultural and recreational education of children at Geiger Elementary School. We do this by fostering relationships among the school administration, parents, teachers and community members through committees, activities, projects and programs. The PTO strives to be aware of the needs of the students, the school, and the community and to be of assistance wherever possible. Simply put, we are here for the students, teachers and families in our school. The Geiger Elementary PTO is comprised of parents, teachers and family volunteers who so generously give of their time and talents to help students and teachers in the classroom by coordinating and organizing unique learning opportunities and by supplying learning materials. In order to accomplish this, we raise funds for our school and offer volunteer time during school or PTO events. The PTO tries to find creative, enjoyable ways to bring together parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to invest in education of our children. PTO meetings are held once a month, and membership is open to anyone interested in playing a role in the education and achievements of our elementary students.
